Real Psychology
Yes. They Are.
A complete advice column.
Q. I think my partner is lying about where they go after eleven. What should I do?
A. They are cheating. I say that with the full weight of a practice I no longer have and a vocabulary I kept. Anxious attachment will make you collect evidence. Avoidant attachment will make them call the evidence “a vibe.” The phone face-down is not a vibe. The phone face-down is a decision.
Q. How do I know if I am the problem?
A. You are also the problem. That does not make them faithful. Two things can be true. I used to bill for that sentence.
Q. Sarah says I should sleep before I make any choices.
A. Sarah is, this month, a dear friend and a once-fine diagnostician. Sleep will not make a liar into a partner. It will make you a better witness. Be a better witness. Then leave, or don't. I don't do couples anymore. I do verdicts.
